Myers Cocktail

The Myers cocktail was popularized over 30 years ago by Dr. Myers, a Stanford MD who started giving them to patients. The ingredients used are vitamin C, magnesium, calcium, B complex, dexpan (B5), pyridoxine (B6), methycobalamin (B12), selenium and zinc.

This formula can be customized to your needs. Additional vitamins that can be added include: thiamine, molybdenum, biotin, folic acid and germanium. The treatment takes 10-15 minutes, but please allow at least 20 minutes for your appointment.

This IV is usually done as a “push”, meaning a syringe full of vitamins is slowly pushed into your arm. This is different than a “drip”, which is when the vitamins are in a bag, the IV is inserted and the vitamins are slowly dripped into your arm. We use this for larger amounts of vitamins such as for vitamin C IVs. In the vitamin C bag, everything that is in the IV push is used but in larger quantities. Up to 25mg of vitamin C can be administered. The bag takes 45-75 minutes to administer. The push takes 10-15 minutes.

Which one should you have a push or a drip?

For most conditions, we suggest the IV push because it’s quicker. The larger bag with more vitamin C is useful when you are coming down with a cold or in helping to detoxify heavy metals.

What to expect?

With the Myers cocktail as an IV push the magnesium gives a feeling of relaxation and warmth that lasts during the treatment. This is great for headaches, migraine, anxiety and muscle tension. With the IV drip, you do not feel quite the same relaxation from the magnesium, although you still receive the same amount, because the drip is a slower delivery method.

The Myers cocktail can also be combined with a glutathione IV push and the phosphatidyl choline IV. They are in separate bags or syringes but given one after another through the same injection site, so you only have one needle stick.

Vitamin C can lower blood sugar so make sure to eat something prior to your appointment.
